According to a new article in the journal Nature, “Satellite temperature measurements do not support the recent claim of a “leveling off of warming” over the past two decades.” Previous claims by those skeptical of the recent trends towards increasing temperature at the surface of the earth (including Scott Pruitt – the new Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) often used the argument that satellite temperature measurements did not show the warming trend and therefore the surface temperature trends must be wrong due to contamination of records by urban “heat island” effects or manipulations of the data.  The idea that there has been a pause in warming trends since the mid 1990’s is sometimes used as an argument that global warming is not correct, but this “pause” has been debunked in surface measurements, and now it has also been shown to be incorrect in satellite temperature measurements.  You can read more about it at https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-02520-7.
