A website from UGA Cooperative Extension

We’re right in the middle of pecan harvest in what looks to be a pretty good year for our pecan crop. Southwest Georgia has had issues with Asian Ambrosia Beetles (AAB) the last few years, and some growers painted the bark of young trees in an effort to stop the beetle. Stressed trees five years old and younger are more prone to attack. Cook County Agent Tucker Price and I made this poster of a 2016 project looking at painting trees as an effective barrier for AAB attacks.
