With the recent rains across the Southeast starting in late December and continuing into January, I thought it would be good to send the Fun Fact of the Week related to the volume of water from an inch of rainfall.

At standard Temperature and Pressure one (1) inch of water has a volume of 27,154 gallons and weights 113 tons.  Another way to think of an acre is to think of a football field (including end zones) is close to one acre.  So, one (1) inch of water on a football field is close to 27,154 gallons of water.
