The Whitfield County Extension office hosted a Forage Field Day and invited Cindy Askew, District Conservationist, and Bill Henderson, Soil Conservation Technician, with the LaFayette office of USDA NRCS. They brought their new Rainfall Simulator to demonstrate how different management techniques impact the soils ability to manage water intake and erosion. Samples were taken from different pastures under varying stocking rates and utilized in the simulator to demonstrate varying amounts of runoff and infiltration based on grazing management.
