Recipe: “Take the Chill Off Winter” Fruit Compote

Put this compote in to bake as you leave for your wintry walk, and it will be there to warm you up when you get back.

Make 6 servings, 1/2 cup each

Ingredients:

  • 1 large orange — peeled and sliced
  • 2 medium apples — peeled, cored and sliced
  • 2 pears — peeled, cored and sliced
  • ¼ c. golden raisins
  • 1 Tbs. brown sugar or 2 sugar substitute packets

Directions:

  1.  Layer fruit in 1 qt baking dish with lid.
  2. Sprinkle on brown sugar or sugar substitute.
  3. Bake covered for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
  4. Serve warm or chill in fridge and eat cold.
  5. Top with dollop of nonfat vanilla yogurt if desired.
