Soybean rust is here. Too late to cause much yield loss.

We are finally seeing soybean rust across the area but in most cases it is too late to reduce yields.  the exceptions would be late beans that have not reached the R6.5 stage or beans that might have other pest issues.  I have recommended a late fungicide application on a couple of occasions in fields that also had severe defoliation from velvetbean caterpillars.
