peanut maturity board

Well, its that time of year again.  As we move into September, we start “hull scraping” peanuts to check for maturity.  I like to start looking at peanuts on the maturity board once they get about 125 days of age.  This is a good time to see how far along they are and start making preparations to dig. We will start checking peanuts the day after Labor Day.  During September, we will check peanuts in Collins on Tuesdays and Glennville on Thursdays.  If you have never pulled a peanut sample to check, call me at 912-551-2204 and I will walk you through the process.
