March 14th Vineyard Workshop

UGA Extension will be hosting a vineyard workshop on Tuesday, March 14th from 9:00am until 4:00pm.

The event will be held at two locations:

Kaya Vineyard & Winery (5400 Town Creek Road
Dahlonega, Ga 30533)

Three Sisters Vineyards & Winery (439 Vineyard Way, Dahlonega, GA 30533)

The morning session will be held at Kaya Vineyard & Winery. New UGA Viticulture Specialist Cain Hickey will discuss the pros and cons of cane and spur pruning. We will  walk through the vineyard to discuss current pruning practices. UGA Plant Pathology Specialist Phil Brannen will then discuss early season issues and pruning sprays.

Lunch will be provided at Kaya. Please bring $5.00 for the meal.

The afternoon session will begin at 1:00pm at Three Sisters Vineyards. We will walk the vineyard to discuss current pruning practices. Cain Hickey will then discuss frost protection and bud break delay measures. UT Specialist Dave Lockwood will  discuss vineyard weed management. We will end with a tasting of Three Sisters’ Norton and Vidal blanc wines.
