Downy Mildew Confirmed on Grape Clusters

Downy mildew has been confirmed on grape clusters at the Georgia Mountain Research and Education Center test plot in Blairsville. This indicates that mildew is infecting earlier this year, as previously indicated by the earlier leaf infections.  Disease incidence may be related to cooler spring temperatures.  Rainfall has not been excessive, but heavy dews will also allow infection.  Producers should be scouting for mildew but also incorporating efficacious materials at this time.
