Prospective Jasper County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers

May 9, 2017

The Putnam County Extension Office is planning on hosting an area 2018 Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Training program in Eatonton. This biannual program typically hosts participants from Putnam, Jones, Jasper, Morgan, Greene and Hancock counties. The planned starting date is Tuesday, January 30. The class will run through mid April pending foul weather or other natural disasters. Classes are on Tuesdays and will begin at 9 AM and conclude between 3:30 and 4:30 PM depending on subject matter and speakers for the day.

Jasper County Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Program currently only has one volunteer. Because the Jasper County Extension Office has started a Junior Master Gardener program in cooperation with Mrs. Marie Brown, 3rd grade STEAM teacher at Washington Park Elementary School, and installing educational raised bed vegetable gardens around the community. We are interested in adding approximately 3 new Jasper County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers (MGEV). And most likely in two years, we will increase membership again to meet programming needs.

Applications and remaining details will be released in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please contact the Jasper County Extension Office, at 706-468-6479.
