The Tampa Bay Times has an interesting story this week about how rising sea levels are threatening many historic sites along the Florida coast, including many historic forts, Native American sites, and other heritage sites. This is also true of other Southeastern states, where many historic sites are located near the coasts because of their ease of use in transportation early in American history. Not all of these sites will be able to be moved or otherwise saved, so coastal communities will face hard choices about what to save and what to abandon.
