The latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows another expansion of moderate drought in the Southeast over the past week. Even though it is cold, drought can continue to get worse if little precipitation is received. I’ve heard some comments that the Drought Monitor is underestimating how much drought there is, so if you are seeing local impacts and don’t think the DM is portraying your conditions accurately, the best way to make your situation known is to report it to the Drought Impact Reporter at https://droughtreporter.unl.edu/map/. You can submit a report using the link on the top menu.
