Climate and Agriculture in the Southeast

November so far warmer and drier than normal

We’re almost halfway through November, and a quick look at the climate maps shows that almost all of the Southeast is above normal in temperature so far, and most of it is much drier than usual. The only parts that are cooler than normal are in Virginia and central North Carolina.  Two areas centered near Augusta GA and Washington DC are the only places with above-normal rainfall. By contrast, most of Florida and the southern sections of Alabama and Georgia have received less than 25% of their normal rainfall so far this month. Cooler temperatures in the next week or so are likely to bring the average temperature for the full month closer to normal conditions, though.
