Dr. Jeff Masters of Weather Underground has a discussion today about climate conditions for the upcoming summer based on the latest forecast from Columbia University’s International Research Institute for Climate and Society.  It shows that parts of the US, particularly the intermountain west including Denver and Salt Lake City have the highest chance of above normal temperatures this summer.  The Southeast has a smaller chance of above-normal temperatures, in part due to recent rains which have caused wet soil conditions, which tend to cause more cloudiness and lower daytime temperatures.  He also discusses the relationship between hot temperatures and increased air pollution.  You can read the full report at https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/summer-us-forecast-hotter-more-polluted-usual?__prclt=Ji6v1gLZ.

The June-July-August forecast from the International Research Institute for Climate and Society, updated in May, predicts above-average chances for a hot summer over much of the Western U.S., Europe, and Russia.
