The latest Drought Monitor released this morning shows that all extreme drought is now gone from the Southeast. Rains since last week’s map have helped alleviate drought across Florida and southern Georgia.  Note the comment from the Florida State Climatologist on the timing of the map:

“This week’s U.S. Drought Monitor (shown in the first image) is a bit of a misnomer for Florida. Because it is based on conditions as of 8:00 AM Tuesday, it does not reflect the heavy rains of the past two days over much of the state. Even so, extreme drought (D3) conditions exist nowhere in Florida anymore, and further improvements will be seen in next week’s Monitor.”

The same statement is true for other dry parts of Georgia.
