The latest 7-day QPF map shows that heavy rains of up to several inches are forecast for the next three days across Virginia, North Carolina, and parts of South Carolina and the Georgia mountains.  These rains could cause flooding in some locations, so be careful if you are driving through those areas.  After this storm system passes, the rest of the week looks dry. The rain is much needed for the reservoirs along the Savannah River, which were down by several feet when I drove over them yesterday, as well as Lake Lanier upstream of Atlanta.  Unfortunately, most of the rain will bypass the developing dry areas in southern Alabama and Georgia and northern Florida.
