Vegetable and Specialty Crop News posted a story earlier this week describing problems that Georgia peach farmers are having with the unusually low number of chill hours that have been observed this year due to the warm winter and spring.  For the peaches that survived the mid-March frost, the lack of chill hours has led to a likely reduction in yield because peach buds are unable to break dormancy and bloom, according to Jeff Cook, UGA extension agent in Taylor and Peach Counties.  You can read more about it at https://vscnews.com/2099-2/.

Meanwhile, the Southeast Farm Press reported that the mid-March frost caused the loss of 85-90% of all South Carolina peaches this year.  You can read that story here.
