We’re almost halfway through April so let’s take a look at the monthly climate so far.  The temperature departure maps shows that once again, the region is all warmer than normal, which has been the case for almost everywhere for the last 15 months or so.  Rainfall has been above normal in many places but drought levels are holding mostly steady because the heat is causing more evaporation. The rest of April looks to continue the above normal temperature pattern, but drier conditions are expected the second half of the month, which will pull the precipitation departures back towards normal.
