A weather pattern  that will bring copious rain to the south central part of the US should extend far enough east to bring good rain amounts to most of the state of Alabama this week, particularly in the next few days.  Drought conditions there are likely to improve in the next Drought Monitor map. Other parts of the Southeast are likely to see some rain but probably less than an inch. When coupled with warm temperatures, this will not be enough to improve dry conditions in those areas and we could even seen some expansion of drought there.

The driest days will occur in mid-week before another storm system moves into the area.  We could see some storminess and severe weather since we will be in the warm sector on the east side of the weather system, so pay attention to the National Weather Service forecasts to make sure you know what is coming.
