The preliminary climate summary maps for the Southeast show that the temperature across the region was much warmer than normal everywhere, in some cases ten or more degrees above normal.  This probably won’t be the hottest on record, but it certainly in the top five.  The precipitation varied across the region, with the wettest amounts found in a streak across southern Alabama and central Georgia, which really put a dent in the drought conditions there.  Along the streak, many stations experienced their second wettest year on record.  The driest area is in the peninsula of Florida, which is consistent with the weak La Niña we are currently experiencing.
