The latest 7-day QPF map shows that many areas of the Southeast will get little rain this week.  While October is typically the driest time of year, the lack of rain this year is leading to worsening drought.  I can think of several areas that probably should be designated as worse than what the Drought Monitor is already showing, and some of those areas will likely slip into a higher drought category in next Thursday’s DM.  At least we will have cooler temperatures for a few days before warm conditions occur.
