NOAA reported this week that the latest temperature statistics on global average temperature for 2016 so far put this year far above measurements from previous years.  In their global summary they also noted that March was the 11th consecutive month with a record high temperature for the Earth, reaching a value of 2.2 degrees F above the 20th century average.  You can read their summary report at https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/summary-info/global/201603.
