Texas is the big winner in this coming week’s rain contest, with the potential for as much as 10 inches of rain possible over parts of the state.  Here in the Southeast, most areas will receive less than an inch of rain except for areas near TS Ana in the eastern Carolinas.

Coupled with the hotter than normal conditions, this will put a lot of stress on growing crops.  Corn is at a critical growing stage now for many areas and farmers will probably need irrigation to help protect yield potential.

The Lawn and Garden Moisture Index shows that the only areas with positive moisture anomalies are in south Florida and near Savannah and Charleston along the Atlantic Coast, which got hit with some showers from developing TS Ana earlier this week.

Temperatures are expected to remain above normal for as least the next two weeks, which will add stress to the crops, especially where rain is scant.
