A rare early morning total lunar eclipse will occur across the Southeast on the morning of October 8. The full moon, which will be in the western sky as the sun rises in the east, will move through the Earth’s shadow, turning a dark red. The peak of the eclipse will be just before 7 am EDT in Georgia. The partial eclipse will begin at 5:15 am EDT, full eclipse will begin at 6:24 am, and the full eclipse will last until 7:25 am, completely ending at 8:24 am.
