There are significant changes that will become effective on May 1, 2017 to the Georgia Private Pesticide Applicator license. Please look over the current rules and upcoming changes below:
Current Private Applicator On-line Video Training – The current on-line private applicator training, available at gaprocerts.com consists of watching eleven video presentations about various pesticide safety topics, completing three quizzes and a final exam. An average score of 70 or above is required to pass the training. A failing score requires the student to repeat the entire training. The training and testing requires approximately 2 hours to complete and is free of charge.
New Private Applicator On-line Training Program – The newly developed online training program for farmers wishing to obtain a certified private applicator license will be interactive and self-guided. It will cover each chapter in the National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Manual in sequence. Several ungraded quizzes are included in each module except the second module on federal and state rules and regulations, which has only a final test. Students must achieve a passing score (a grade of 70) on the final test at the end of each module to proceed to the next module. There is no limit to the number of attempts a student may make to pass each module’s final test.
There will be a course access fee of $25.00. Once access has been purchased the site administrator will enroll the student. The new Private Applicator Training course will be available on the current Georgia Professional Certifications website. The time to complete the new training course will be approximately 4-5 hours. A certificate of completion will be available for printing to take with other required documents to the county agent for completing the license application.
Recertification credits – The current requirement is 3 hours/5 years; sometime in the future the requirement will change to 5 hours/5 years. This will not take effect until the Georgia Department of Agriculture makes a rule change; bottom line, there will be no change to the current CEU requirement for the foreseeable future, until EPA approves a revised training and certification plan for Georgia and GDA completes a rule change.
Please be sure your Private Pesticide Applicator license is active and has not expired. If it has expired or if you would like to get a license for the first time, please do so before the end of this month. Please follow directions on below flyer and be sure to bring certificate of completion and drivers license to Lisa in the Bulloch County Extension Office by Friday, April 28.
